In Taylor Coleridge’s poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, an albatross following a ship at sea is considered an omen of good luck. Unfortunately, the sailor Samuel shoots the albatross, an act which is regarded as a curse, and his fellow sailors make him wear the dead albatross around his neck. Eventually all of the sailors die from the curse, and the albatross is seen as an omen of both good luck and a burden to be carried.
In 2006, Google made time-of-day performance data available to AdWords advertisers. Ever since then, day parting, the practice of adjusting bids and run times to maximize campaign performance and budget, has become a staple for insightful PPC strategists.
